HISTORY OF STIRLING ALBION F.C. Season 1982/83
Season Review
1982/83 was a breath of fresh air after the disappointments of 1981/82. Young players such as Colquhoun, Philliben, Dawson and Grant really blossomed this season and there were many exciting games for the support. A few people started to return to games after the horrors of the previous two seasons...Great results against Queen of the South including a 2-0 win on the opening day of the season...And what about the comeback from 3-0 down to win 5-3 at Palmerston in March...A great 2-1 win at Brechin City with John Colquhoun on target... Demolishing Meadowbank at Annfield in the mud and glaur... A 3-0 win at Berwick Rangers in April with ex-Berwick boss Jim McSherry controlling the midfield for the Albion... John Colquhoun being named the Division Two Player of the Year by the Scottish Professionals Footballers Association... John Philliben playing for the Scotland Youth team in the World Championships in Mexico at the end of the season...The retirement of veteran striker and Albion stalwart Billy Steele...
