Season Review

For season 1975/76 Albion found themselves in the re-structured Second Division which was effectively the Third Division. With only 26 league fixtures the SFL brought in the Spring Cup - a group format competition played for by the First and Second Division clubs.

This was Alex Smith's first full season in charge at Annfield. We were always some way off the promotion pace and the main excitement came in the Scottish Cup. Wins over Civil Service Strollers and Forfar Athletic set up a tie at Tynecastle against Hearts which we lost 0-3.

Mickey Lawson bowed out of Annfield at the end of the season . He decided to join St Johnstone for a fee in the region of £20,000.

One of the brightest features of the season was the emergence of left winger Graeme Armstrong. He was singed up after a successful trial appearance and took over the number 11 jersey. Little did we know at that stage that he would go on to play over 1000 senior games during his career.
