Alex McRae
The appointment of Alex McRae in January 1960 was a surprise to many; however, he had shown promise as manager of Irish League side Ballymena. His first move was to sign Jimmy Bonthrone from Dundee for £1500, and gradually the team showed signs of improvement. Alex had been a talented player in his time with Falkirk in the early 1950s and when they offered him the manager’s job there he moved on, less than two months after taking charge at Stirling. |
