When Stirling Albion’s official club website was closed in October 2003 all Binos fans with the internet were up in arms, as it was an excellent site. However, thanks to two Stirling diehards, Barry McLean and James Smith, they did not have to wait long until a new site was up and running – www.stirlingalbion.com . With this site came new ideas, one of which was to start a Stirling Albion Fans Team. After months of talking they finally got round to organising their first match, a local derby against Falkirk. The success of this match, winning 12-3, was huge and everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
The supporters team has been expanding ever since. They now have two teams, Athletico Bilbino, playing 11 a-side matches against other Senior Scottish League sides, and SAMBA, a 5 a-side team playing in the local Superleagues tournament. With a squad of about 18 now, hopefully the team will continue to enjoy playing matches, and winning them off course! The idea of playing against other Supporters Teams, is an excellent way of breaking down the barriers between rival sets of fans, brining them closer together and really taking football back to the roots of the game, the fans!
