Soccer Sevens November 2004 The current block of Soccer Sevens is nearing the end with the final week being the 30th November. Details about the next block, which will start towards the end of January will be sent out nearer the time. We would like to point out that only members who have enrolled for the Soccer Sevens can take part. Over the past few weeks, several children who are not members, have turned up at Forthbank expecting to be able to join in. Because of the limitation in numbers, we cannot accept these. (15th November) _______________ After a break of 2 weeks due to school holidays and Stirlingshire Cup Final, the Soccer Sevens have resumed. We now have 96 children enrolled, which is a record high and we are pleased that so many children come along. In fact, 23 of those children have not missed a session. We would also like to congratulate the youth players who help with the coaching and who were involved in the Stirlingshire Cup Final. A special mention should be made for Sean Roycroft who scored, what turned out to be, the winning penalty. Finally, participants are reminded to wear suitable clothing for the weather. It can be very cold at Forthbank when the wind blows, therefore, wearing t shirts is not recommended. (1st November) October 2004 September Review (3rd Oct) We were joined by the regular coaches, David Lawrie and Kevin Milne, as well as players from the Stirling Albion youth team. With Darren Cummings and Chris Scotland now regulars in the first team squad we have some new faces including Scott Christie who was on the bench as substitute goalkeeper for a few weeks. We also have Mark Berry, Patrice Napoli , Stuart Ross, Chris Lochead and Sean Roycroft who helped with the coaching last season so they knew what to expect. The first night was mainly a fun night and we hope that both old and new members enjoyed the night. The second and third nights saw 75 and 76 children turn up and we now have 88 registered. This leaves a few spaces still available. That night all the groups received some coaching as well as playing some games. Finally, participants are reminded to wear suitable clothing for the weather. It can be very cold at Forthbank when the wind blows, therefore, wearing t shirts is not recommended. September 2004 75 Young Reds attended tonight. There are now 86 registered for the current block, leaving 4 spaces available. (14th Sep) _______________ 61 Young Reds attended the first session of the Soccer Sevens at a sun drenched Forthbank. They were joined by a number of players from the youth team, some of whom are new to the Young Reds. The pleasing aspect was that we signed up 4 new members tonight. (7th Sep) _______________ The Soccer Sevens re-starts on 7th September. To date, 56 children have registered. This season we will be taking the register each week so I would like to ask everyone who has registered to turn up no earlier than 10 minutes before the start of the session. Children who have not yet registered will be asked to wait until the children who have pre-registered are marked off. (6th Sep) Enrolment forms have been issued and should be returned by 3rd September. August 2004 The soccer sevens will, once again, be held on Tuesday nights from 6-00pm to 7.00pm. The first night will be 7th September and the final night will be 30th November. There will be no Soccer Sevens on 12th October due to the school holidays. This year the cost will be £15.00 per block. July 2004 The first block of this season’s soccer sevens will commence on the 7th of September and finish on the 30th of November. There will be a break in October for the school holidays. May 2004 The Soccer Sevens finished for the season on Tuesday the 4th May. Although numbers were slightly down following the Easter break, almost 70 children turned up at each session. We would like to thank the youth players for providing coaching and hope that they have enjoyed the experience as much as the children did in going through the routines devised by the players. We would also like to thank David Lawrie and Kevin Milne for providing the experience to back up the enthusiasm of the young players. The next block will begin in early September and details will be issued to all members during the summer. |
