Peterhead 1 Stirling Albion 3

Stirling Albion kept their fine recent form going with a comfortable win which should have been by a greater margin.

In dreadful conditions, Albion took a 12th minute lead. They were awarded a penalty for a challenge by Craig Tully on Paddy Connolly. Chris Aitken saw his spot-kick rebound off the left-hand post and hit the back of keeper Paul Mathers who had guessed correctly diving to his right, with the ball rolling over the goal-line.

Connolly had been denied a shot on goal by a last-ditch Tully challenge in the seventh minute then shot straight at Mathers after 22 minutes.

Their deserved second goal was a well-worked effort with the ball being played to Doug Wilson, who scored with a rising shot high into the net in the 26th minute.

Ten minutes before half-time the game was effectively over. Stewart Devine drove a wind assisted free-kick from the right by the touch-line towards goal. It may have gone straight in, but David O'Brien managed a touch on the ball from six yards out just to make sure.

And out-of-sorts Peterhead were never in the game but scored a consolation goal two minutes from the end, substitute Graham Sharp bundling the ball over the line.
