A share of the points was a fair result for two teams who have strong hopes of promotion this season.
Thistle started well, and after only seven minutes Stephen McConalogue reacted quickly to a short bac-pass but his delicate chip ended up the wrong side of the far post.
Stirling replied immediately and after nine minutes Steven Boyack was unfortunate to see his 18-yard shot deflected wide for a corner. Stirling continued to press, and after 13 minutes they had an ideal chance to take the lead when Will Snowdon was adjudged to have brought down Paddy Connolly in the box. However, Kenny Arthur produced a magnificent save to deny Steven Boyack.
This miss seemed to spur Thistle, and after 18 minutes Ricky Gillies shot just over. After 26 minutes Stevie Nicholas saw his header again go the wrong side of the post. As the half drew to a close Nicholas had another chance, but saw his 18-yard shot brilliantly saved by Myles Hogarth.
Neither side was able to break the deadlock in the second half, although Thistle's new Finnish defender Jukka Santala almost made a dream debut after 63 minutes when he got on the end of a Nicholas pass, but his 10-yard chip rebounded off the bar to safety.
