Alloa held Stirling to a goalless draw in a hard-fought local derby match and claimed a vital point in their fight against relegation.
Alloa started the stronger side and in the ninth minute Robert Sloan connected with a Brian McColligan pass but a shot from the edge of the box went narrowly over the bar.
Alloa were in total control of the match at this time and in the 13th minute Paul McLeod came close to opening the scoring when he ran at the Stirling defence, beat two men but his shot was cleared for a corner.
Stirling fought their way back into the match and they came close in the 21st minute when Steven Bell took on the Alloa defence as he ran in on goal and only a perfectly-timed tackle by Michael Bolochoweckyj prevented Stirling from taking an undeserved lead.
Stirling came close again in the 27th minute when Patrick Connolly broke through the Alloa defence but his shot went over the bar.
Stirling fans and players thought they had taken the lead in the 45th minute when a fierce close-range shot from Doug Wilsion was brilliantly saved by Allan Creer in the Alloa goal and when Bell netted the clearance he was adjudged to be offside by the assistant referee.
Neither side could take control of the match and in the end a draw was a fair result.
