Stirling Pair Interesting English Championship Side

Right back, Paul Nugent, made his debut for the Binos against Glasgow Celtic at Parkhead in that game all Stirling supporters desperately try to forget. Since then he has been a virtual ever present, picking up Player’s Player of the Year and Supporters Player of the Year at the end of season awards ceremony for Season 2002/03. Last season however was a real set back for him, with many scouts watching him he picked up various injuries and missed more than half the season with a variety of injuries, including one which led to a fairly major operation. This pre-season he has looked to be getting back to his best, and although there is wide interest in the talented 21 year old, it is believed he will more than likely see out this year with the club, to finish of his joiner’s apprentiship.

David O’Brien broke into the first team at the beginning of Allan Moore’s reign back in season 2002/03. His skill, trickery and pace, made him a firm favourite with the Albion faithful. He got the Bell’s Young Player of the Month award in November 2002, when he scored in three of the Albion’s four matches, and helped pull us into the fringe of the promotion race. It is believed that it is O’Brien who Wigan are most interested in, and after having such an impressive pre-season ‘O’Bri’ has done his chances of a big money move no harm at all. The young winger showed his potential with a beautifully taken finish against Alloa Athletic recently in the Stirlingshire Cup and his impressive form has led to manager Allan Moore signing a left wing replacement in James Allan incase O’Brien does move on.

Fingers crossed we can hold onto two of our prized assets, and maybe push for a second consecutive promotion push, however, if they leave I am sure all Binos supporters will wish them all the best for the future.
