Scotland Under 21 Update
Last updated : 29 August 2004 By Rave On Line Editor
Rave One Line brings news from the Scotland Under 21 camp and especially of former Albion starlet Ian Turner, who is currently playing with Premiership side Everton.
Former Albion goalkeeper Iain Turner was again included in the Scotland Under 21 squad for the match against Hungary in the Dunaferr Stadium at Dunaujvaros last week. Despite being a member of the squad on numerous occasions he has yet to gain his first cap – Craig Samson (QOS) and Graeme Smith (Rangers) appear to be rated more highly than him. We know better. Iain has again been called up to the squad for this Thursday’s friendly away in Spain and the World Cup Qualifier against Slovenia on September 7th. The most capped players in the squad are Andy Dowie of Partick Thistle and Jamie McCunnie of Ross County with 7 caps each. The only other uncapped squad member was Steven Whittaker of Hibernian.
The squad is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Samson (Kilmarnock), Smith (Rangers), Turner (Everton).
Defenders: Diamond (Aberdeen), Dillon (Kilmarnock), Dowie (Partick), Hutton (Rangers), Kinniburgh (Motherwell), Robertson (Nottingham Forest), Whittaker (Hibernian), Morrison (Aberdeen), Wilson (Dundee United).
Midfielders: Brown (Hibernian), Foy (Liverpool), Lappin (St Mirren), McCunnie (Ross County), Sweeney (Millwall), Riordan (Hibernian).
Forwards: Clarkson (Motherwell), Gallagher (Blackburn), O'Connor (Hibernian), Prunty (Inverness CT), Wallace (Celtic).
