Preview - Greenock Morton v Stirling Albion
Morton's form this season has been inconsistent. Many people expected them to challenge immediately for promotion but it is clear that they face a difficult task. After an uncertain start to the season the club dispended with the services of manager John McCormack the day before they came to play at Forthbank. Morton have now appointed former Celtic and Dundee United defender Jim McInally as his successor. McInally has been involved in coaching with Celtic's youth set-up. The locale...Inverclyde is an elongated urban area spread along the shores of the Firth of Clyde. Port Glasgow merges into Greenock, which in turn merges into Gourock. The traditional industries of shipbuilding and sugar refining have declined greatly. Greenock remains a major container port. Cappielow Park is located on the eastern fringes of Greenock and is one of the last traditional 'urban' grounds. The team...Should be doing better than they are. Up front, in particular, they have an abundance of riches with several players capable of notching 20+ goals per season. The travel...By car you simply head through Glasgow on the M80 and M8, over the Kingston Bridge, past the airport and keep going. The ground is on the left as you enter Greenock. If you elect to make the journey by train then the station to use is Cartsdyke. It is served by trains from Glasgow Central heading for Greenock and Gourock. The ground...As stated above, Cappielow is one of the last old-fashioned urban grounds in Scotland. Albion fans will be allocated the West Stand - enter via the stand turnstile and head down to the far end of the Main Stand. Good view and the chance to make a bit of racket. Overall capacity has been tarted up quite a bit recently although it could still do with major refurbishment The fans...Morton had over 3000 for the visit of Ayr United last week and they are averaging well over 2500. By far the best supported team in the Division. Their hard core support is now at three times the level it was back in the mid 1990s. Refreshment...Catering outlet beneath the stand. I was unimpressed on my last visit but perhaps I was unlucky. | Stirling Albion Supporters Club Transport Borestone Bar - 12.15pm The prices for the trip to Greenock is as follows: Adults - £6.00 Please note that these times may change, but are the listed times the Supporters Club have given us.
