#4 – The Old Stand, Recreation Park, Alloa.

   Back in the 1960’s when the BBC were screening Doctor Findlay’casebook, they choose Recreation Park to film an episode featuring Tannochbrae United. Part of the attraction may well have been the Alloa ground’s original grandstand – a building for which the definition ‘quaint’ might have been written. It looked like something straight out of the Victorian era, although apparently it did date from later than that. Viewing was uncomfortable (skelves and pillars), and changing facilities were intimate. The stand finally bit the dust in the early 1990’s, being replaced with a magnificent new erection.
